Prasanthi Nilayam Campus

 

On 28th November 1978, The Chancellor laid the foundation-stone of the College of Arts, Science and Commerce at Prasanthi Nilayam by placing in the north-east corner nine precious gems (now Prasanthi Nilayam campus of the Deemed University).  The Institute's Administration office is located in Prasanthi Nilayam. The campus is  for men and it offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Professional courses. It also has special research facilities needed for the doctoral candidates in all the disciplines.

Anantapur Campus

In June 1966,  when Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba was at Anantapur, he was concerned on the plight of the girls who had to go to distant places for higher education and he resolved that there shall  be a women's college in Anantapur soon.  The Women's College was inaugurated on 22nd July 1968.

The campus is located in a 115 acres area overlooking the LION mountain and has fully fledged facilities of Library, Laboratories, Sports and Games Field and a Hostel.

Brindavan Campus

On 9th June 1969, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba inaugurated the College of Arts, Science and Commerce at Whitefield. The Campus at Whitefield is known as the Brindavan Campus and is located in Bangalore. The Campus is for men only and it offers Undergraduate courses

Year of establishment: 1969 

History and Profile: The Department of Commerce in the Brindavan Campus began in 1969 as part of the erstwhile Sri Sathya Sai College of Arts, Science and Commerce. With the passage of time, the department has moved from offering a B.Com. course to a B. Com (Hons.) programme(since 1993) with a duration of three years. The programme has kept pace with the rapid changes in the economic environment and offers the students a wide variety of courses with electives in subjects ranging from Cost and Management Accountancy, International Business, Insurance, Advanced Financial Accounting, Investment Analysis in addition to providing sound basic knowledge in all important subjects in the field. The emphasis on value based learning and an integrated approach to developing the personality of students equip them with skills not merely for living but also for life. The exposure to senior managers and leaders from industry as well as the focus on current issues and practical learning equip the students with a sound base for pursuing higher education and building a meaningful and rewarding career.

Who is sathya sai baba:

“I am God. And you too are God. The only difference between you and Me is that while I am aware of it, you are completely unaware.”

This is the answer Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba gives to people who query Him about His identity and divinity. This fundamental truth of man’s divine nature is at the heart of His message and mission. Indeed, in His discourses to devotees, He addresses them as “Embodiments of the Divine Atma”. All who experience His pure and selfless love, and benefit from His illuminating counsel, and witness His miraculous nature get a glimpse of the glory and majesty of God, and therefore of what one potentially and inherently is.

Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born as Sathyanarayana Raju on November 23, 1926 in the village of Puttaparthi, in the state of Andhra Pradesh in South India. Even as a child, His spiritual inclination and contemplative nature set Him apart from other children of His age, and He was known as  ‘Guru’ and “Brahmajnani’  (knower of Brahman or Godhead) among His peers and others in the village. However, it was not until October 20, 1940, the day He made the historic declaration of His Avatarhood, (Avatar - Divinity Incarnate) that the world at large learnt of this divine phenomenon. Today, millions of devotees from all over the world, professing various faiths, and hailing from various walks of life worship Him as an ‘Avatar’, and an incarnation of the Sai Baba of Shirdi. Thousands gather every day at Prasanthi Nilayam, His ashram established beside the village of Puttaparthi, for His Darshan, when He moves among devotees blessing them and providing spiritual succour and solace.

Revealing the purpose of His Advent, Sai Baba has said that He has come to re-establish the rhythm of righteousness in the world and repair the ancient highway to God, which over the years has systematically deteriorated. In His own words, “This Sai has come in order to achieve the supreme task of uniting the entire mankind as one family through the bond of brotherhood, of affirming and illuminating the Atmic Reality (Atma – The Self) of each being, to reveal the Divine which is the basis on which the entire cosmos rests, and of instructing all to recognise the common Divine Heritage that binds man to man, so that man can rid himself of the animal and rise up to the Divine, which is the goal.”

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is an integral manifestation who combines two very significant roles. Firstly, He is a great spiritual Master, famed for His simple and sweet exposition of the greatest and most intricate of spiritual truths which form the fundamental teachings of all the religions of the world. Elucidating on His mission, Bhagawan declares “I have come not to disturb or destroy any faith, but to confirm each in his own faith, so that the Christian becomes a better Christian, the Muslim a better Muslim and the Hindu a better Hindu.” His formula for man to lead a meaningful life is the five-fold path of Sathya (Truth), Dharma (Righteousness), Shanthi (Peace), Prema (Love) and Ahimsa (Non-Violence). Love for God, fear of sin and morality in society – these are His prescriptions for our ailing world.

Though Avatars may appear in different forms at different times, places and circumstances, yet they are all the manifestations of the One Supreme Lord.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Avatar of the Age, has succinctly explained the meaning and the reason for the descent of the Avatar in the following Telugu verse:

“Avatarinchuta yanutalo Arthamemi?
Janulapai Preethi Vaatsalya Paratha thoda
Vaari Sthaayaiki Daivambu Vachchu Bhuviki
Jeeva Prajnatho baatuga Daiva prajna”

He says that Formless God takes a form and descends upon the Earth as an expression of His boundless love and affection towards humanity. The Avatar is an enigmatic, yet delightful blend of individual consciousness and the Divine Consciousness. The Avatar behaves in a human way so that mankind can feel kinship with Him, but rises to His super-human heights so that mankind can aspire to reach those heights.

In Bhagavad-Gita, Lord Sri Krishna, the Avatar of the Dwapara Age, declares thus:

"Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya Glanirbhavathi Bharatha
Abhyukthanam adharmasya Thadathmanam Srujamyaham.”
“Parithranaya Sadhunam Vinashaya cha Dhushkrutham

The Sai Prayer Group is a personal initiative, a private work of love dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. It is not affiliated to any official Sathya Sai Organisation. It is formed by members of saibabaofindia  and saibabanews groups, devotees, Sai Centers and friends around the globe who are willing to serve someone in need through prayer.

The Sai Prayer Group will pray every Thursday and every Sunday for all those who request prayers and will pray for universal love and peace. The Prayer Service is at 7.00 am every Thursday and every Sunday. Wherever you are, please follow the time zone of your country.

If for some unforeseen reason the current prayer list does not reach you in time please just continue with your prayers using the previous weeks list until you are updated. We ask for your cooperation, understanding and patience if any mishaps occur as this seva is done completely voluntary by all who are involved. We also do prayers at 6 AM on Poornima's each month which include doing 108 Gayatri's for the world.
All individuals who wish to participate in this seva may compile the appropriate form or may write to Sister Melody and give your individual names so that you can be included in the Full moon puja and the Seva participants list will also be sent to Sai Baba of Puttaparthi and also sent to the Shrine of Shirdi Baba in offering to Shirdi Sai.
All Prayer Lists are sent each week to the helping hands of fellow devotees who live in Puttaparthi and now Shirdi to be given to Sathya Sai and placed before Shirdi Sai for their blessings.

. The Prayer List of Names is sent out before each Thursday and Sunday through the the saibabanews  & saibabaofindia online group. Prayer Requests are collected from the New Moon to the Full Moon and the list of prayer requests is renewed. All are encouraged to keep old prayer lists on ones altars or take them to your nearest shrines to be blessed or prayed over. You may put in a prayer request for anyone, at any time, for any reason and as many times as you wish. Please make sure that you include your first and last name please to limit any confusion of duplicate names and requests or mistaken identities.

Sathya sai baba maha samadhi

Introduction

In late March 2011, Sami was admitted to the super-specialty hospital. This caused a great stir throughout the world for Sai devotees, and the world watched twice daily for press reports from the hospital.

On 24 April at 7:40AM, Swami left His physical body. His body was brought to Sai Kulwant Hall, and He "lay in State" for three days.

Last rites were made on the morning of 27 April, and Bhagawan's body was laid to rest in Sai Kulwant Hall in the presence of a huge assemblage of devotees, also attended by a host of political luminaries.

Sai baba Golden Lingam

In the sixties and the seventies, this Shivarathri would draw unbelievably huge crowds because of the incredible vibhuti abhishekam [ceremonial vibhuti bath] that Baba performed, and the Lingodbhavam [bringing out the Lingam] that followed. Here are two accounts of the abhishekam, one by Kasturi who was privileged to participate in it, and another by Howard Murphet the Australian devotee who was simply stunned by the whole event.

Baba sometimes performs Abhishekam or ceremonial bath for the silver figure of His 'previous body' [i.e., the idol of Shirdi Baba], that is kept in the Mandir. A small wooden pot, artistically carved and painted, is filled with vibhuti for this purpose. Baba holds this pot upside down over the idol, puts His hand inside the pot and twirls it, so as to make the vibhuti flow evenly. Miraculously, the pot does not get emptied!

The flow continues as long as His hand is inside, long after the original quantity has been exhausted. The twirling process brings down fresh showers of vibhuti, from the pot. When Baba withdraws His hand to switch over to the other one, the flow momentarily stops; but once the other hand is inserted, the flow resumes! This goes on till huge quantities of vibhuti have been poured on the idol, and the pile of vibhuti has mounted to unexpected heights.

Year by year, the size of the Sivarathri crowd began to increase until it became almost impossible to manage. And then in 1977, Baba suspended the Lingodbhavam. Twenty two years later, out of compassion for the devotees, He revived the Lingodbhavam; on 15th February, 1999, He brought out the golden Lingam, Hiranyagarbha. He did likewise in the years 2000 and 2001 also.

The vibhuthhi abhishekam and the lingodbhavam were two miracles which were witnessed by a large number of fortunate people. There others which baba perfomed in privte gatherings…one such unique visiting card was given in Dwaraka, the holy city built by lord Krishna….
In May 1968, Baba went to the princely state of Jamnagar, in response to the prayers of the Prince, the Jamsaheb and his consort, popularly known as the Rajmata. Jamnagar forms a part of the present Gujarat State, and is famed for its many holy places such as Dwaraka, the city built by Krishna, and Somnath where the famous Siva Temple was repeatedly raided for its wealth by invading hoards and tribals from Afghanistan.

Swami arrived in Jamnagar from Bombay on 14th May by a chartered plane, and on the following day left for Dwaraka [the city built by Krishna], accompanied by the members of His party, other devotees and the Rajmata [Queen Mother] of the erstwhile Princely State of Nawanagar. ….. The residents of Dwaraka and Sai devotees from other towns packed every inch of available space in the Krishna Temple, long before Baba arrived. While Baba could easily enter the Temple, the others were pushed, crushed, jostled, and squeezed. Seeing the plight of those who came with Him, Baba came out and drove away.

While returning to Jamnagar in the evening, Baba suddenly said, "Look! The sea is here!" The cars stopped. The party went to the beach where after strolling for some time, everyone sat down on the sand. Baba then heaped the soft sand to a height of about half a metre in front of Him, putting all into a state of extreme expectancy. He then flattened the heap, and drew a pattern on it. "It is ready', He said, wiping the sand from His hands. He then dug His hands deep into the pile and drew forth a bright golden image of Krishna approximately 25 cm high. It was the image of Krishna playing the flute, the very acme of goldsmith's art and craftsmanship. "You did not get the Darshan of Krishna in the Temple; have it now!" He said. For devotees, it was a moment of supreme ecstasy.

Sai Students: All of a sudden, waving His hand, Swami materialised a huge golden Lingam. The lingam was awesome by its sheer size alone! He handed it over to Dr. Goldstein with some instructions. He asked for a cover and wrapped the lingam in the cover. He told him to perform the Abhishekam or the holy bath for the diety. Promising further instructions later, Swami displayed the lingam for all the eager devotees to have a look at. There were gasps and shrieks. It is true that in highest happiness, man does not know how to react. The mixture of spontaneous reactions was something that must have been seen and heard to be truly experienced! Blessing all the devotees, Swami accepted Aarati and returned to His residence at 7.30 pm while prasadam was distributed.

Sai Students: At the end of His Discourse, He went to the interview room briefly, and returned with Dr. Goldstein in tow. Swami took the lingam that He had given to Dr. Goldstein last evening and displayed it to everyone. He then created vibhuti and sprinkled it on the lingam, and it was the perfect Abhishekam. He again created some more of the holy Vibhuti and asked Dr. Goldstein to immediately put all of it into his mouth. He announced that He’s giving the lingam to Dr. Goldstein for him to distribute the water from washing the lingam to those who are unwell. There was thunderous claps and joyous shouts of Jaijaikars as Swami said that. He then asked for the evening’s cultural programme to begin.

Sri Sathya Sai Baba is one of the most revered spiritual leaders of the 20th century. He has propagated the message of looking towards God and moving on the path of spirituality throughout the world. He has never intended to start a religion and nor does He recommend His followers to adopt a particular religion. From a young age of 14, Shri Satya Sai Baba has been working towards the goal of serving others and guiding them in the right direction.

He has been walking on this path for more than 50 years, with the highest ideals of truth, right conduct, peace, love, and non-violence. People from far off places come to the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Ashram at Puttaparthi, known as Prasanthi Nilayam. Baba interacts with all His followers on a personal level, without any intermediary in between.

Prasanthi Nilayam Puttaparthy

The main ashram of Shri Sathya Sai Baba is at Puttaparthy and it is known as Prasanthi Nilayam, meaning "abode of the highest peace". Sathya Sai Baba inaugurated the ashram on November 23, 1950, His 25th birthday. The ashram complex consists of beautiful temples, a kalpavriksha (wish-fulfilling tree) a meditation tree and a Darshan hall, where Sathya Sai Baba meets his devotees. There is also a post office, a public relations desk, a canteen and even a bakery within. Just a village a few years back, Puttaparthi has progressed to a developed town.

Brindavan

The Brindavan Ashram of Shri Satya Sai Baba is situated in Whitefield, on the outskirts of Bangalore.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba left Prashanti Nilayam (Puttaparthy) this afternoon. Sri Sathya Sai Baba is on his way to His Brindavan ashram in Kadugodi, Whitefield (Bangalore). This afternoon Swami came to Sai kulwant hall at 3.20 p.m. amid the sounds of vedam chants. After accepting the Aarthi Bhagawan left the packed Sai Kulwant hall in His car driven by Mr Balaram. Swami was accompanied by Sathyajeet and Mr. G Venkataramana. Crowds of devotees waiting outside on the main road greeted farewell with tears, prayers and flowers. Standing on the both side of the road, some threw flowers in front of the Swami's car & many shed a tear of painful 'separation'. Brindavan is all set to recive Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Message of Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Satya Sai Baba encourages people to look inside themselves and recognize who exactly they are. An individual is not the mind, not the mind; he is the eternal spirit that temporarily occupies the mind and the body. He preaches people to have unquestionable faith in God and follow their own conscience with courage and resolve. This is what spirituality is all about and this is what will bring unity and peace. The main motto of Baba has been "Love All, Serve All".

Through His writing as well as His discourses, Satya Sai Baba has created a wide pool of knowledge and guidance. The main teachings of Baba have been summarized below...
